Jeremy Knight
theatrical projection design and videography

Jeremy Knight Jeremy Knight, projection designer and videographer, had a long career as a computer software designer before entering the video field. Co-inventor of the popular OCR program OmniPage, he holds eight software patents in the fields of optical character recognition and computer evaluation of mental ability.

Ever the auto-didact, Jeremy began videotaping Berkeley Opera productions in 2000 as a way of teaching himself to shoot and edit video. He has subsequently produced videos of dozens of Berkeley Opera (now West Edge Opera) productions, as well as many other theatrical productions and recitals.

His work with theatrical projection began with Berkeley Opera's 2004 production of Legend of the Ring, a one-evening condensation of Richard Wagner's four-opera cycle. In addition to West Edge Opera, his work has been seen in productions by Dallas Opera, Michigan Opera Theatre, Yale Opera, Oakland Opera Theater, Livermore Opera, Townsend Opera, Youth Musical Theater Company, The Crucible, and Lamplighters Music Theatre.

A gallery of his past productions is on the Projection Design page of this website — click on the thumbnail for a show to see images, videos, and/or reviews of the work. Another page has a sampling of animations from projection projects. And a list of past and upcoming projects is on view here.
