La bohème

By Giacomo Puccini, libretto by Luigi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa. Directed by Mark Streshinsky, set design by Jean-François Revon, lighting design by Erik Vose. Produced by Townsend Opera at the Gallo Center for the Arts in Modesto, California, January, 2014.

In July, 2014, a subset of the images were shown on 4 flat-screen TV sets during West Edge Opera's production of the opera at the Ed Roberts Campus in Berkeley at WEO's 2014 Summer Festival. The TVs were also used in Acts 1 and 2 of that production for live video from a mezzanine-mounted camera and an iPhone held by one of the singers.

Two side-by-side short throw projectors produced a 17' x 44' image on a cyc at the back of the stage. Images for Act 1 (Paris rooftops with smoking chimneys) and Act 3 (snow falling in a winter countryside) were cyclic animations that ran continuously for many minutes.
