But all is redeemed in the final dual-focus scene with Jeremy Knight’s bull-fight video in the background in counterpoint to the violent apache dance climax. The passion surges, the voices swell, the lights power up, and the timing is exquisite. It is a moment of creative genius on Artistic Director Streshinsky’s part, and, if you see it, you will remember it as one of those operatic/theatrical highlights.
